Smelly workplace gumboots and footwear Posted Thursday, July 1, 2010 Smelly Gumboots in the workplace. This is a common issue within the workplace environment with the wearers of gumboots for many hours at a time. The problem is clearly the smell that emits from the gumboots (and other footwear) and at the end of the day they are put in the locker room to continue to ooze the odour. Can this odour be neutralized? Yes it can! By using a product called CONTACT N. This can be applied by way of a 1 litre trigger bottle or a foot operated dispenser which dispenses the CONTACT N into the gumboot at the end of the day. Contact N is two stage and comes ready to use, no dilution necessary. The offending odour causing molecules are encapsulated on contact with the Contact N and immediately eliminating the odour with a blend of 5 nonpathogenic bacterial strains.
CONTACT N is available in 1 litre trigger bottles and 20 litre drums. Contact SanSmart today for a sample
Alsoft Hand Sanitiser Posted Tuesday, March 23, 2010 23rd March 2010
ALSOFT hand sanitiser has now been tested and been proven to be effective against the Influenzavirus Type A (H1N1) and the Avian Influenzavirus (H5N1). These tests were instigated by Saraya Australia Pty Ltd using an independent laboratory in Germany. Alsoft has now been evaluated in accordance with the European Standard DIN EN 1500.
The CDC (Centers for Disease Control) recommends ALCOHOL BASED HANDRUBS as the primary method for hand hygiene, unless the hands are visibly soiled. (Wash with soap and water if hands are visibly soiled.)
Alsoft no-rinse alcohol based hand hygiene rinse is one of the best products available to use for routinely decontaminating hands (before gloving and after de-gloving, between patients, etc.) SanSmart offer state of the art NO-TOUCH dispensers, which will help minimize cross-contamination associated with regular manual dispensers.
Alsoft alcohol-based hand rinse is formulated with emollients which leave the hands feeling soft, not dry. Alsoft is not a gel: it is atomized (sprayed) so the nails and cuticles of the hands are saturated. (40%-50% of pathogens in the hands are found in the nails and cuticles.) CDC report says: a study (lancet) indicated that alcohol rinses reduced bacterial counts on the hands more than gels.
MICROBE GUARD Posted Wednesday, July 25, 2007 Product Code 9500
We are quite often asked how these Anti Microbial Food Service Towels work, and here is an explanation which you will find helpful.
A NON-CHEMICAL EXPLANATION OF A COMPLEX CHEMICAL • Dow Corning utilised its silicone chemical technology to incorporate an antimicrobial (a quaternary amine) into a silane. • In contrast to most silicones, which are slippery, non-reactive materials, silanes are highly reactive materials which are used primarily as coupling agents and adhesion promoters. • Silanes react with virtually all surfaces to alter the surface characteristics. They become a part of the surface, rather than a coating. • As a silane, AEGIS Antimicrobial becomes a part of any surface to which it is applied. That means it does not dissipate into the air or into water or any other liquids. • Because it does not dissipate, it retains its full antimicrobial strength indefinitely.
A NON-MICROBIOLOGICAL EXPLANATION OF A UNIQUE ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY
In the world of antimicrobials, Dow Corning developed AEGIS™ an Antimicrobial in a class by itself because of its totally unique chemical bonding system. The chemical bonding causes the treated surfaces themselves to become antimicrobially active – not just surfaces from which an antimicrobial leaches or volatilises.
On direct contact with micro-organism, the technology works by disrupting (or rupturing) the cell membrane. This interrupts the normal life processes and destroys the cell. The interruption is caused by two forces – the long chain chemical component and the positively charged nitrogen component. The first can be compared to a “sword”’ the second to “electrocution”.
Like a “sword”, the strength of AEGIS Antimicrobial is not used up or diminished when it acts. It can be used over and over again. Conventional antimicrobials are absorbed and are more like “bullets”. With each use, some of the ammunition store is used up and effectiveness diminishes.
The unique bonding and killing capacity of AEGIS Antimicrobial, with its one-two punch, allows it to effectively control bacteria, fungi (mould, mildew and yeast), algae and other one celled organisms.
Because it acts only on the membrane and does not lose strength over time, it doesn’t create the conditions which allow micro-organisms to adapt to its presence or develop resistance. As conventional antimicrobials gradually lose strength, new, resistant micro-organisms can develop.

ODOUR CONTROL IN VEHICLES Posted Wednesday, July 25, 2007 THE RESTORATOR: Product Code 60-5000 240 Volt: 60-5212 12volt:
There has been many a Japanese import come into New Zealand heavily contaminated with cigarette smoke. SanSmart offer a solution which is not only effective against cigarette smoke but other types of odours How can you completely remove these odours which have totally penetrated the whole car interior? Ie. Air Conditioning, Upholstery and Seat Belt Webbing.
A proven method of choice is to use a RESTORATOR:
This is NOT OZONE! It is a method using the Vaportek Odour Control System which employ a propriety compound of select natural oils. With this system the oil compounds are hermetically sealed into specially formed membranes/cartridges that permit the oil to breathe through the surface of as a vapour. When molecules of the several constituents of the Vaportek compound volatize into air, they react with the odour-producing elements of the odorous molecule. The portion of the molecule that contributes the odour may be aldehyde, amine, diamine sulphide, lactone, carboxylic acid, ester, carbylamine, ketone or other carbons. These are highly reactive and are neutralized, or made inactive by the interaction with the ingredients of the Vaportek compound. The Vaportek compound is effective because of its intrinsic wide spectrum of neutralizing activity, combined with its high mobility in air and ability to penetrate porous substances such as wallboard, wood, carpeting, cement, insulation and others to permanently neutralize imbedded odours.

HAND SANITATION Posted Thursday, June 29, 2006 The CDC (Centers for Disease Control) now recommends ALCOHOL BASED HANDRUBS as the primary method for hand hygiene, unless the hands are visibly soiled. (Wash with soap and water if hands are visibly soiled.)
Alsoft no-rinse alcohol based hand hygiene rinse is the best product available to use for routinely decontaminating hands (before gloving and after de-gloving, between patients, etc.) SanSmart Ltd offer state of the art NO-TOUCH dispensers, which will help minimize cross-contamination associated with regular manual dispensers. The B120 is featured on our site with another model due to appear shortly.
Alsoft alcohol-based hand rinse is formulated with emollients which leave the hands feeling soft, not dry. Alsoft is not a gel: it is atomized (sprayed) so the nails and cuticles of the hands are saturated. (40%-50% of pathogens in the hands are found in the nails and cuticles.) CDC report says: a recent study (lancet) indicated that alcohol rinses reduced bacterial counts on the hands more than gels.
Alsoft meets the 5 main requirements that the CDC Guidelines for Hand Hygiene recommend ie:
1. CDC says: Ethanol is preferred over Isopropyl. Alsoft is formulated with ethanol. Ethanol has greater activity against viruses than Isopropanol. Isopropanol is more drying to the skin than ethanol. 2. CDC says: Use an alcohol rub that is between 60%-90% alcohol. Alsoft has 66% Ethyl alcohol. 3. CDC says: Use an alcohol rub with persistent activity. Alsoft has TWO active ingredients! Ethanol kills bacteria on contact: and 0.03% benzalkonium chloride has persistent or residual killing effect. 4. CDC says: Use a product that has emollients to prevent skin drying. Alsoft is a formula healthcare workers love! Vegetable glycerin emollients soothe the skin, and are compatible with latex gloves. 5. CDC says: Use a well designed dispenser. Alsoft can offer the best NO-TOUCH dispensers available. Battery operated automatic dispenser uses infer-red technology to detect the presence of the hands. No-touch means no cross-contamination. Batteries last a year. No touch means exactly that.

Food Processors Posted Monday, March 8, 2004 We have been conducting some direct marketing recently in an effort to advise more people of our stock portfolio and its appropriateness to their industry. Please contact us if you do not wish to receive any e-mail information in the future, we are careful to keep control of our database and remove any contacts that don't wish to be on it. From our point of view we have had some very positive responses from people who have not known of our existence and the quality of our products and have broadened our profile considerably. There are industries where particularly our Tacky Mat® is suitable that we haven't had a lot of involvement before and so have extended our reach to include some Labs, Pharmaceutical and Packaging businesses that require this type of product. A tightening in the regulations surrounding some food processing businesses has also increased the need for our Hand and Surface sanitising solutions. If you haven't required these products before and now find they are a requirement please contact Tim as he can give you a quote for the right type of dispenser for the size of your business, the degree of protection required.
